Made from almost equal parts of colombard and ugni blanc grapes that were originally destined to be distilled into Armagnac, the Deche family, like everyone else in the region, swiftly switched to table-wine production when spirit sales started to decline. Armagnac's loss is wine drinkers' gain, as this wonderful, racy, light, herby white oozes stunning floral, lemon and grapefruit zest. The perfect summer aperitif and just 11.5 percent alcohol."

If you are travelling in French wine country you should invest in ‘Lexi Vin’ by Paul Cadiau. This is a specialist English-French dictionary of wine terminology and boasts a host of words and phrases you won’t find in regular publications.
Back by popular demand, this wine tasting in the regal surroundings of Vintners’ Hall offers a marvellous opportunity to taste the wines and ask questions of six celebrated Yapp suppliers. It is likely to be a popular event, so early booking is advised.
