Alsace: Muscat d'Alsace 2005

A wonderfully versatile wine that makes a delicious summer aperitif, pleasant partner to salads and picnic foods or charming post-prandial 'sun downer'. Traditionally, it is served with asparagus or prawns.

Charles Schléret

Charles Schéret is based in the delightful village of Turckheim just west of Colmar on the river Fecht and has been supplying Yapp Brothers for over 20 years. Charles cultivates the full spectrum of Alsace grape varieties and is widely recognised as one of the finest vignerons independents in the region. Possibly excellent but I'm not as keen on Muscat as a sole varietal.

This wine paired extemely well with a cured lamb dish and also a roasted chestnut & chanterelle dish I made for a private dinner in the autumn.
