Neagles Rock: Riesling 2010
By Aussie standards, Clare enjoys a relatively moderate climate which is ideally suited to cultivating Riesling - for which Neagles Rock Vineyards is renowned. Typically a good Clare Riesling is taut and nervy in youth but gains weight and complexity with age. Jane is justifiably proud of hers which has garnered numerous awards and accolades. It has a pale straw colour, classic kerosene and lime scents and a tangy palate with an ultra-dry finish, making it a perfect partner for cleanly spiced Asian dishes - as we amply proved on a visit to Malaysian restaurant Blue Chillies in the Fitzroy district of Melbourne.
