Neagles Rock: Riesling 2010

Description

Expressive, lime-tinged, tangy Riesling from Neagles Rock, whose zesty style is protected by a screw-cap closure.

  • Style: White Wine, Dry (Sec), Light-bodied
  • Region: Australia,  Neagles Rock,
  • Producer: Neagles Rock (Jane Willson)
  • Vintage: 2010
  • Grape variety (Cépage): Riesling
  • Wine pairing - drink with: Shellfish, Oysters, Thai or Indian
  • Cellarage: Excellent when drunk young, but Riesling ages well and citrus flavours will give way to complex minerality if cellared over 5 years.
  • Vinification: Fruit from both dry-grown and irrigated vines (25% Home Block, 35% Duncan Block and 40% Misery Block) are fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures to preserve the grape musts freshness. The finished wine has no oak contact prior to bottling.

Neagles Rock: Riesling 2010

By Aussie standards, Clare enjoys a relatively moderate climate which is ideally suited to cultivating Riesling - for which Neagles Rock Vineyards is renowned. Typically a good Clare Riesling is taut and nervy in youth but gains weight and complexity with age. Jane is justifiably proud of hers which has garnered numerous awards and accolades. It has a pale straw colour, classic kerosene and lime scents and a tangy palate with an ultra-dry finish, making it a perfect partner for cleanly spiced Asian dishes - as we amply proved on a visit to Malaysian restaurant Blue Chillies in the Fitzroy district of Melbourne.
