- Vinification: Hand harvested off 25 year old vines. The 80 hectares of vines yield 45-50 hectolitres per hectare. 7 day fermentation. 2 - 4 week maceration in thermoregulated
vats. 22 month elevage in oak barrels (75% of which are new). Fined with egg whites. Unfiltered. - Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 13.5%

Saint Julien: 2ème Cru Classé: Château Léoville Poyferré 2004
Made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, it has been described by Robert Parker as being: “Among the stars of the appellation… a powerful broad beauty”. It eminently approachable now but will cellar well for a further 15 years.

Panel Tasting - Decanter Magazine july 2011 says:Deep crushed berry, perfumed mint, ripe blackcurrant, mocha and stylish menthol oak bouquet. This has breadth and concentration with grippy, ripe tannins giving plenty of room for the fruit to sing. Still needs time. Drink 2012 - 2022. 18.5 points. (Rated second out of 93 wines tasted).
