This generic categorization encompasses the entire Burgundy region but, unsurprisingly, most of the production derives from the cheaper lands in the Maçonnaus and Côte Chalonnaise regions in the south. As ever, when selecting wines from such large regions, it pays to follow an individual winemaker with a strong reputation – by doing so you can unearth some real gems.
