Chinon: Château de Ligré Blanc 2011

We were first drawn across the Loire to Château de Ligré, on the southern bank, because Pierre and Fabienne Ferrand produce a wonderful rarity in the form of a dry white Chinon. Made from pure Chenin Blanc, this zesty, blossom-scented white wine has attractive citrus tastes and a tingling mineral-edge. It makes for a fabulous aperitif or partner to shellfish.
