Jasnieres Wines
Located some 40 kilometres north of Tours on the Le Loir tributary of La Loire, the appellation of Jasnières is both highly specialist and wonderfully anachronistic. Devoted exclusively to the production of Chenin Blanc, planted over just 31 hectares, this northern outpost of Touraine is home to a handful of winemakers centred around the communes of Lhomme and Ruillé-sur-Loir. Jasnières produces wines that vary from bone-dry to decadently sweet depending on when they are harvested and the vagaries of the vintage, and Joël Gigou’s wines are amongst the finest.
