With a light, fruity palate when young, this dry Jasnières wine obtains a unique smooth taste as it matures. In the finest vintages it is headily decadent with complex mineral undertones and succulent, honeyed tinges.
Joël & Ludovic Gigou's classic dry Jasnières wine ‘Clos Saint Jacques’ has a wonderful bouquet of orchard fruit and freshly-baked bread and a palate of stewed pears with underlying mineral notes and a fine acidity that will enable to develop in bottle over a decade or longer. Trout with almonds or veal in cream sauce are Joël’s highly specific food recommendations (and he should know) but we’re rather partial to a glass on its own before a meal.
