Menetou Salon: Domaine Jean Teiller Blanc 2011

A delightfully fruity white Menetou Salon wine with delicate floral aromas. The atypically ripe, juicy style of Loire Sauvignon is almost certainly influenced by the year that Patricia Teiller and husband Olivier Luneau (who now run the estate) spent winemaking in New Zealand.

Menetou Salon: Domaine Jean Teiller Blanc 2011

The Teillers' Menetou Salon Blanc is a firm favourite chez Yapp. It has pineapple and grapefruit notes on the bouquet and a palate of succulent (almost tropical) fruit and a dry elegant finish.

What others think of this wine...

Simon Hoggart says:

'One of my favourites is made by Patricia Teiller, a beautiful woman who is the third generation of her family to make Menetou-Salon. She has almost perfect English, lives in a beautiful part of France, makes superb wine (her rose is also wonderful) and has two lovely daughters. Who would not envy her?'

Andrew Neather - London Evening Standard, 11/10/2012 says:

Moving east up the Loire and into sauvignon blanc territory, Menetou-Salon can often (at least in France) offer better value than neighbouring Sancerre. This is ripe and juicy, long and underscored with minerality. Lovely sauvignon.

Jim Budd - Decanter Magazine, August 2012. says:

Attractive minerality and very good length. Drink 2012 - 2016.

Joe Wadsack - 9th June 2012 says:

This is substantially better than any Sancerres I’ve tasted from this vintage so far, but then again, it doesn’t taste like Sancerre, because it’s not. It has a feather-light mouthfeel, with the lightest of grip... The vegetal, chlorophyll hit right in the finish, if anything, makes the wine more interesting.

Jim Budd - jimsloire.blogspot.co.uk, 15/05/2012. says:

Amongst a few 2011 Loire whites in the line up, the 2011 Menetou-Salon from Domaine Jean Teiller showed best with attractive minerality and good length.
