Menetou Salon: Domaine Jean Teiller Blanc 2011

Moving east up the Loire and into sauvignon blanc territory, Menetou-Salon can often (at least in France) offer better value than neighbouring Sancerre. This is ripe and juicy, long and underscored with minerality. Lovely sauvignon.

This is substantially better than any Sancerres I’ve tasted from this vintage so far, but then again, it doesn’t taste like Sancerre, because it’s not. It has a feather-light mouthfeel, with the lightest of grip... The vegetal, chlorophyll hit right in the finish, if anything, makes the wine more interesting.
