Reuilly Wines
Reuilly is the most westerly of the Central Vineyard AOCs, all of which (Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé, Menetou Salon and Quincy) specialize in Sauvignon. Reuilly is the smallest with a tiny 130 hectares in production and the least well-known, but should not be overlooked. It is home to only a handful of winemakers and produces simple, clean, unoaked and unadulterated wines that are arguably Loire Sauvignon Blanc at its purest. Both the white and rosé wines (the latter made from Pinot Gris) make for ideal aperitifs and are terrific partners for shellfish, hence the town’s close association with the famous Atlantic oyster port of Marennes.
