This is a benchmark white Sancerre wine with a classic cassis and elderflower bouquet. The lean, minerally palate has zesty citric nuances and bracing acidity leading to a long, dry finish.
Andre and Arielle Vatan are two of our longest-serving and highly-regarded suppliers. Their 'Les Perriers' Sancerre wine is a quintessential Sancerre with textbook nettle and cut-grass scents over a palate of crisp, mineral-edged gooseberry fruit. While it doesn’t demand food it is very versatile - English asparagus is the perfect accompaniment to the newly bottled wine. The Vatans own 10 hectares of vines within the appellation of Sancerre and one hectare outside which is classified as a Vin de Pays du Cher.
Victoria Moore - The Telegraph Weekend 25/06/2011 says:Domaine Andre Vatan Les Perrières Sancerre 2009/10 France: Even better... is this grassy, vital, mineral-driven sancerre. It’s a small producer (to give you some idea of the set-up, we were surprised to find flowerpots perched on the lids of wine tanks buried under the lawn in the front garden of their house) and there isn’t much of it about. But it’s superb. Both vintages are good; the 2010 is still a touch young.

Jancis Robinson MW - JancisRobinson.com 26th May 2011 says:Now this is really vibrant with quite a bit of struck-match character, then masses of sleek, satisfying fruit. And great persistence. This is the sort of wine that would, nay should, get me drinking Sancerre again. In fact I may even have fallen in love with its shiny pale green foils. Very complete. Lip smacking! 17.5/20 points.
