Saumur Blanc 2010
Description
Made from pure Chenin Blanc grown on the chalky soils of Anjou, this zesty, bright white Saumur wine has a bountiful bouquet of white orchard fruit and a crisp, fresh, oak-free palate. The French call such wines ‘vif’ meaning ‘lively’ and this dry, fruity, crowd-pleaser from the Vignerons de Saumur Cave Co-opérative makes for a bracing aperitif or partner to salads and seafood.
The distinctive label that adorns our range of red and white Saumur wines is based on graffito of Charles de Gaulle.

Saumur Blanc 2010
The chalky soils and temperate climate of Saumur and Saumur Champigny are ideally suited to viticulture and vines have been cultivated here since Roman times. The ever-reliable Cave de Saumur Co-opérative ar Saint Cyr en Bourg has supplied us with its failsafe bottlings of Chenin and Cabernet Franc (adorned with our distinctive de Gaulle-esque labels) for so long that they have, by merit and tenacity, effectively become our 'house' wines. The white Chenin is dry and crisp, clean and unoaked with a minerally edge. Chez Yapp, we usually keep a bottle on stand-by in the fridge and, more often than not, another on the go in the kitchen...
