Cotes de Gascogne Wines
The Dèche family whose considerable vine holdings lie just above Eauze in the Midi-Pyrenees are traditionally producers of Bas Armagnac, about which they are passionately knowledgeable. Sensibly, in the early 1990s, they recognised that if they were to be able to keep their core business going in the face of plummeting domestic consumption, they were going to have to diversify. This they have done to great effect, producing a range of keenly priced, fruit accentuated, consumer friendly wines from varietals grafted onto Armagnac’s staple rootstock of Ugni Blanc and Bacco.
