Jurançon Moelleux: Domaine Bellegarde Sélection DB 2005

An extraordinarily rich and powerful wine with honey, dried apricot and exotic fruit flavours. As the wine ages, it develops aromas of crystallized fruits, ripe strawberries and quince.

Jurançon Moelleux: Domaine Bellegarde Sélection DB 2005

The haut de gamme at Domaine Bellegarde is the 'Sélection DB' made in superior vintages from draconian yields of grapes that are harvested as late as possible. It is a golden-coloured, multi-faceted wine of incredible complexity that is best drunk in quiet contemplation. It is utterly delicious from bottling but will mellow and darken with age and keep well for at least 20 years.

  • Style: White Wine, Sweet (Moelleux), Full-bodied
  • Region: MidiJurancon
  • Producer: Domaine Bellegarde (Pascal Labasse)
  • Vintage: 2005
  • Grape variety (Cépage): Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng
  • Wine pairing - drink with: Blue Cheese
  • Cellarage: The wine gains complexity throughout its life and can be kept for 20 years or more.
  • Vinification: Late picked (vendanges continue until late December), hand harvested, de-stalked grapes are pneumatically pressed very slowly over an 11-hour period. The resultant juice is then placed directly into new oak barrels where vinification and ageing take place in the following 24 months prior to bottling.
