Monbazillac Wines
The small, specialist appellation of Monbazillac, just to the south of Bergerac in the Dordogne, is renowned for its unctuous, sweet white wines. Here, low yields of botrytis shrivelled grapes are used to make wonderfully rich wine with a deep golden colour and complex plalate of dried fruit, honey and nuts. The finest examples of Monbazillac, like our own, are underscored by a bright acidity, and give many a costlier Sauternes a serious run for their money.
