Bellet Wines
The little know appellation of Bellet, whose meagre 40 hectares are tucked away in the extreme southeast of Provence in the hills above Nice, produces wonderfully distinctive wines from obscure grape varieties – namely Rolle, Folle Noir and Braquet. The difficulty for aficionados lies in sourcing any wine at all, as production is essentially tiny (land on the The Riviera attracts an obvious premium) and what little wine that is made, is snaffled up with alacrity by canny locals and prosperous Parisians. Fortunately, we have forged an enduring trading relationship with one of the region’s finest but least prolific producers, Jacques Dalmasso of Domaine de la Source.
