Cassis Wines
The picturesque fishing port of Cassis is nestled beneath the imposing cliffs of the Cap Canaille on the Mediterranean coast between Marseilles and Bandol. In the summer season the town is home to scores of holidaymakers in search of sun, sand and seafood. The eponymous appellation is home to just 14 wine producers. Given the ratio of tourists to vignerons it is little wonder that the majority of Cassis produced is consumed en place. Cassis produces aromatic, flavoursome whites and rosés (and barely any red) that are the perfect foil to fruits de mer, as fresh as they can be. We consider ourselves most fortunate to receive a generous allocation from the idyllic Clos Sainte Magdeleine estate that is presided over by punctilious patron François Sack.
