Côtes de Provence: Domaine Richeaume: Cuvée Tradition 2009

A bouquet of ripe blackcurrants with undertones of mint and pepper precedes a sumptuous palate of concentrated berry fruit offset by fondant tannins. Delicious from release, it actively improves with up to 5 years bottle age.

Côtes de Provence: Domaine Richeaume: Cuvée Tradition 2009

Sylvain and Henning Hoesch’s ‘Cuvée Tradition’ is a blend of Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, in descending proportions, that are fermented separately and raised in used oak barrels prior to a rigorous assemblage. It is the estate’s principal bottling in volume terms and, although not cheap, offers great value for money.

Yapp Brothers Staff Review - Tom says:

This organic gem manages to bridge a gap between Rhône and Bordeaux, New World and Old, with a beguiling bouquet of garrigue berries and herbs and a warming core of ripe cassis fruit over fondant tannins. This is a template wine for many of the Super-IGPs that have since sprung up and which are now laughably over-priced.

  • Organic WineThis is an organic wine
  • Style: Red Wine, Dry (Sec), Full-bodied
  • Region: ProvenceCotes de Provence
  • Producer: Henning & Sylvain Hoesch
  • Vintage: 2009
  • Grape variety (Cépage): Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache Noir

  • Cellarage: Will age happily for five years but drinks well from bottling.
  • Vinification: Organically produced, hand harvest grapes from 35 year old vines are fully de-stemmed prior to a three-week cuvaison. This is a key factor in producer Henning Hoesch's efforts to "work the body of the wine - its dry extract" at this stage ensuring that complex aromatics will develop later, in barrel. Regular racking and small volume elévage yield wines that seldom require filtration and need only the lightest of finings.
  • Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 13.5%
