What others think of this wine...
Anthony Rose - The Independent, 19/11/2011 says:All the peppery quality and sheer clarity of northern Rhône syrah you desire, with a textural, spicy-fruit quality and savoury spine of acidity designed to offset gammon or honey roast ham.
Jane MacQuitty in The Times on Saturday, 22/10/2011 says:Côte Rôtie, literally the roasted slope, is one of the steep granite vineyards of the northern Rhône producing some of the region's greatest syrah-dominant reds. As such, you could easily pay twice the price from one of Champet's competitors for a red of this calibre. The Champet Côte Rôtie comes from a single plot in the La Viallière vineyard, whose heavy clay soil is typical of the celebrated Côte Brune area, with this grand 2006 delivering magnificent elegant, aromatic, spicy, leather and sandalwood flavours. And you can drink from now until 2016.
