A good, firm medium weight ‘grower's’ Côtes du Rhône with a ripe red fruit bouquet, a jammy palate with pleasant spicy undertones and supple tannins.
The generic Domaine Saint Gayan: Côtes du Rhône rouge, blended from Grenache with lesser volumes of Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre (as are most of these earthy southern reds) is always dependable with plenty of bright, peppery, berry fruit and supple tannins. It is showing extremely well in the 2009 vintage, and the 2010 should be a barn-stormer too.
Jonathan Ray - GQ Magazine, April 2012. says:From the IWC Rhône Merchant of the Year, this blend of Grenache (mainly), Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault, is gloriously full of pepper and spice with a long, jammy finish.
