Côtes du Rhône: Domaine Saint Gayan 2010

The generic red Côtes du Rhône from Domaine Saint Gayan is blended from Grenache with lesser volumes of Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre (as are most of these earthy southern reds) is always dependable with plenty of bright, peppery, berry fruit and supple tannins. It was showing extremely well in the 2009 vintage, and the 2010 Côtes du Rhône proves to be a barn-stormer too.

What others think of this wine...

Wine Spectator - www.winespectator.com says:

Ripe, with dark linzer torte and blackberry coulis notes laced with singed raisin and licorice. 87/100.

Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate, August 2012. says:

Two outstanding values from the Rhone include the basic, delicious 2010 Cotes du Rhone. It offers lots of black cherry fruit intermixed with garrigue, earth, lavender and pepper notes. Medium-bodied and surprisingly elegant with a supple texture, it is composed of generic Cotes du Rhone blended with declassified parcels owned by Saint-Gayan in both Sablet and Seguret. It should be consumed over the next 2-3 years. 88/100.

Yapp Brothers Staff Review - Jason says:

Always dependable with plenty of bright, peppery, berry fruit and supple tannins.
