Specialist Wine Merchants award in the Decanter World Wine Awards 2009

"Terrific wines at all prices, often but not always from lesser-known regions and producers; enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate staff; and transparent value for money without recourse to endless price promotions."

What others think of this wine...

Ned Halley in the Western Daily Press says:

La Petit Caboche 2008 (£7.95) is a vin de pays de Vaucluse, a Rhône zone of little pretention, but this red wine is sublime. Madeby Jean-Pierre Boisson, mayor of the little town of Châteauneuf du Pape, and one of that legendary appelation's leading producers, it is as dark and sleek, as nuanced and pure-sunshine in flavour as Châteauneuf itself. And as much to the point, it is wonderful to drink in its purple, vivacious youth, unlike the 'grands vins' of the town which need years to achieve mellow maturity.

John Livingstone-Learmonth (www.drinkrhone.com) in Decanter Magazine says:

Baked air behind well-set smoky Grenache fruit. Good hear, flourish of raspberry on the finish. Fresh length, very drinkable. 2010-2012

Amelia Pinsent in Country Life says:

It's 100% Grenache and packed with fruits-of-the-forest flavours and nuances of cinnamon and cloves. Perfect poured with tomato-based pasta dishes or a traditional ploughman's.
