Lirac Wines
The small and unassuming town of Lirac, to the west of the Rhône and virtually opposite Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is frequently overlooked. Red wine accounts for 75% of production in Lirac and the base grape is Grenache supported by varying quantities of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan. The same cépage is also used to make the brick-pink rosé and the whites are from Grenache Blanc that is blended with lesser volumes of Ugni Blanc, Clairette, Marsanne and Bourboulenc.
