A wonderful esoteric, slightly resinous, full bodied, dry white wine deliberately made in quite an oxidative style with a sherry-like bouquet and a complex palate of orchard fruit offset by wild herb notes and a long, elegant finish.

The Collioure blanc from Domaine La Tour Vieille, called ‘Les Canadells’, is made from an unusual blend of 30% Rolle, 20% each of Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Macabeau along with 10% Roussanne.It is a great food wine, and producer Christine Campedieu is very precise in the dishes she recommends as partners – rock fish, grilled squid, white meat in sauce or cheese (specifically Comté, Camembert or Reblochon).
