The Puig Oriol is a dense, dark, brooding red wine that is essential Collioure.
Like it's 'La Pinède' sibling, Domaine La Tour Vieille make this second equally gutsy and gastronomic red wine called 'Puig Oriol'. It is made from 70% Grenache Noir and 30% Syrah. It has a bouquet of garrigue fruit and dense black fruit, earth and spice tastes and a fine tannic structure.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate, June 2011 says:The 2008 Collioure Puig Oriol - as usual, a roughly 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah - mingles lightly-cooked black raspberry and cassis with peat, black pepper, and red meat juices on a firm yet juicy palate palpably high in extract and possessed of an admirable sense of transparency to finishing suggestions of herbal and mineral nuances. Look for at least 4-5 years of versatility from this. WA 90, drink 2011-2016
