Yapp Brothers wins the IWC 2011 Rhône Specialist Wine Merchant of the Year for a second year running!

What the wine experts are saying about Yapp Brothers wine merchants:

Terrific wines at all prices, often but not always from lesser-known regions and producers; enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate staff; and transparent value for money without recourse to endless price promotions.

Northern Rhône 2007

"No British wine merchant understands the region better." GQ, January 2009

The Rhône valley enjoyed a fabulous vintage in 2007. The preponderance of ripe fruit yielded wines of immediate and obvious appeal in the South, but some cracking wines have also been produced in the North. A recent trip to some top winemakers sur place revealed Syrahs of rounded fruit, with a fine concentration and complexity that should see them age well. We are pleased to offer three of our favourite wines from the Northern Rhône in bond (ex VAT and Duty) per dozen. This offer is subject to availability.

These wines can be purchased now by telephone on 01747 860423, or by email to sales@yapp.co.uk.

Crozes Hermitage: Alain Graillot 2007

@ £158 per dozen in bond

[Landed July 2009]

"If you would like a red wine to balance out a mixed-case order, from the never-ending list of goodies at Yapp, then look no further than 2007 Crozes Hermitage, Graillot - it is ripe, spicy and bright, brimming with welterweight damson fruit, and you should get in quick because it is an awesome vintage and will sell out long before it drinks at its peak."

Matthew Jukes, MoneyWeek, April 2009

Côte Rôtie: Patrick Jasmin 2007

@ £276 per dozen in bond

[Landed October 2009]

With 5.3 hectares of vines located in 11 parcels in 8 separate climats across the Côtes Brune and Blonde, Patrick avoided the ill effects of localised hail damage that blighted some domaines. Accordingly, the wine displays its trademark perfumed, violet nose and elegant redcurrant finesse.

"A domaine whose wines hold great refinement and a clear fruit - I have always considered their style to be Burgundian."

John Livingstone Learmonth, Drinkrhone.com

Cornas: Auguste Clape 2007

@ £393 per dozen in bond

[Landed July 2009]

Dense and dark with black fruit flavours and ripe tannins (that suggests comparisons with the 2000 vintage) this quintessential Cornas will age gracefully for 15 - 20 years.

"No one disputes the fact that Clape's Cornas is the reference point for the appellation."

Robert Parker, Wines of the Rhône Valley
