Made from pure Syrah grown from small parcels of vines on granitic soil at Saint-Désirat and Saint-Jean-de-Muzols.
"Graillot's 2011 St.-Joseph exhibits lots of minerality along with sweet and sour cherries, strawberries and framboise. Medium-bodied with an endearing elegance, it should drink well for 4-5 years."

Saint Joseph 'Terre d'Encre' from Domaine Georges Vernay is a classic dark, Northern Rhône Syrah - restrained violet and blackberry scents and a lively black fruit palate with some good tannic grip and a fresh acidity.
"A pure style, with sanguine and iron notes supporting unadorned damson plum, bitter cherry and red currant fruit. Lovely bergamot, blood orange and singed cedar hints flit through the stylish finish." Drink now through 2022. 92 points.

"Tasted out of bottle and a smoking St.-Joseph that savvy readers need to seek out, the 2011 St.-Joseph (which was just bottled prior to this tasting) offers gorgeous richness and depth, especially in the vintage. Black currants, charcoal, mineral, bouquet garni and ample background meatiness all emerge from the glass, and this medium to full-bodied beauty has brilliant purity of fruit, a great texture and fine tannin that should allow it to evolve gracefully. It’s a fantastic value that should not be missed!" WA 93/100, tasted December 2013.
