Domaine Gardrat

The family estate of Domaine Gardrat can be found west of the Cognac vineyards, 20 minutes from Roan, in Cozes. The property was originally acquired in 1894, and now covers some 40 hectares of vines including a number of different soil types. This allows different grapes to be planted accordingly on the best soils. The first bottling took place in 1977 for Pineau des Charentes, and in 1988 for Vin de Pays Charentais, of which their Sauvignon Blanc is a perennial Yapp favourite. "People today know wine, know how to drink and enjoy. They are looking for authentic products." says Lionel Gardrat. Lionel and his brother Jean-Pierre now look after the estate and are fortunate to have been awarded numerous awards at the annual Concours Général Agricole in Paris - they have received over forty medals since they began entering their wines in 1996.
