Corbières: Domaine Py '3ème Cuvée' Blanc 2022

This characterful white Corbières wine, a blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Roussanne, is fermented on its lees to impart as much flavour as possible. It has a pale straw colour, appealing wild flower and herb scents, and a lovely, rich orchard fruit palate underscored by deftly-integrated oak. Certified organic.

Tasting Notes

Jean-Pierre Py produces a modicum of rare white Corbières alongside the red which the 'appellation' is more commonly associated with. We would happily drink this lovely, mid-weight wine as an aperitif, but it will stand up well to seafood, salads and soufflés.

Harvested both manually and mechanically, each grape is vinfied separately and gently pressed before a cool maceration. The Grenache Blanc and Vermentino are fermented in stainless steel with the Roussanne in new oak and some bâtonnage (lees stirring) for texture. Blended 1 month before bottling.

Domaine Py (Jean-Pierre Py)

Based in the viticultural heartland between Carcassonne and Narbonne in the commune of Douzens, Jean-Pierre Py is a forward-thinking wine maker who quit the local Cave Co-opérative in 2003 to pursue his dream and make his own wine. In 2008 he put all his vine holdings under organic conversion and his entire output was certified as organic in 2011.
