Luberon: Château la Canorgue Rosé 2021

Provence is renowned for it's rosé wines, and Château la Canorgue's is a superlative example. Made from organically grown Provençal staples Syrah and Grenache, it is a wine light enough to be drunk alone, but would happily stand up to bouillabaisse or a Provençal goat's cheese.

"I am going to go out on a limb here and say that, from a quality per pound perspective, it’s the best rosé in the world."
Henry Jeffreys - The Critic.

Tasting Notes

Château la Canorgue sits just beneath the hilltop village of Bonnieux in the heart of the Luberon. Their rosé is full-flavoured but completely dry, with a delightful coral-pink colour, a delicate crushed raspberry bouquet and crisp, clean palate redolent of ripe redcurrants. Certified organic.

Château la Canorgue (Nathalie Margan)

Nathalie Margan worked with her father Jean-Pierre for over a decade before gradually taking over the reins (though Jean-Pierre still lends a hand when needed). Nathalie's father and wife Martine began producing wine at Martine's parents’ ancestral estate, Château de la Canorgue, in the craggy Provençal hills around Bonnieux in 1978. Over the following 20 years, they painstakingly renovated the house and created an inspirational modern winery making red, white and rosé wines that have drawn international acclaim. Nathalie nows farm 35 hectares organically and the wines are largely classified under the sizeable, and variable, Rhône satellite appellation of Luberon. The Margans are widely recognized as being amongst the best of the appellation and one of Provence’s most pioneering estates.
