This Gamay Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes from the Cave de Saint-Désirat co-opérative drinks well lightly-chilled in the Summer and makes a fine accompaniment to all manner of picnics, barbecues and light lunches.
We have listed this Gamay, from the Cave de Saint-Désirat, which lies 20 kilometres north of Tournon on the RN 86, for decades and it remains as good as ever. It has a lovely berry bouquet and a juicy, ripe redcurrant and raspberry palate with pleasant, peppery notes.

Cave de Saint Désirat
Located in the centre of the fruit-bearing flat land between Serrières and Sarras in the Northern Rhône valley this exemplary Cave Co-opérative was founded by dynamic visionary Georges Chaléat in 1960 and has been run by his son Jean-Luc since 1979.
The Cave de Saint Désirat was one of the first co-operatives to tighten up cellar practices, invest in new equipment and modernise vineyard techiques. Today the Cave boasts 150 members who work 230 hectares of Saint Joseph's vineyards as well as outlying Vin de Pays vines. The Cave de Saint Désirat is an excellent source of red and white Saint Joseph as well as single variety Vin de Pays typified by their juicy, fruit-accentuated Gamay.
