Tavel: Domaine Maby 'La Forcadière' 2022
Richard Maby's Tavel 'La Forcadière' is a full-bodied rosé wine made in a traditional style. It's a great food wine, beloved by savvy sommeliers, and would go down a treat with a harissa roast chicken or a spicy vegetable tagine, and makes an ideal partner to Asian dishes. Certified organic.
The Domaine Maby flagship Tavel rosé 'La Forcadière', from France's premier rosé-only appellation, is widely and rightly regarded as being one of the best on the market. It is made from a blend of the permitted Tavel grape varieties (which allows all colours of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Bourboulenc, Piquepoul, Carignan, Calitor & Clairette) from vines averaging 50 years old grown on the three soils characteristic of the Tavel appellation (slate, sand and 'galets roulés').
This Tavel wine has a lovely terracotta robe, ripe berry scents and a palate of red fruit with subtle spicy undertones.

Domaine Maby
At Domaine Maby, third generation Rhône winemaker Richard Maby has injected fresh impetus to the family’s 60 hectare estate since relinquishing his job at the Paris Bourse in 2005 and returning to the vineyards of his home. The Maby family and Domaine have a long history of wine-making in Lirac and Tavel, and Richard’s grandfather, Armand, was the Mayor of Tavel. Now making wine under 4 appellations, Lirac, Tavel, Côtes du Rhône and the Coteaux de Cèze, Domaine Maby farm using sustainable agriculture principles to promote biodiversity and reduce CO2 emissions. This was recognized when Richard was named one of the Winemakers of the Year in the 2021 Guide Hachette des Vins.
