Domaine Paradella

Lionel Wojcik (of St. Emilion's Château Alverne) bought 7.3 hectares of vines in the heart of Patrimonio in 2016 - a region regarded as the island's best for red wines. Lionel's friend and wine adviser Louis Mitjavile (Château Le Tertre Roteboeuf, Roc de Cambes, Domaine de l'Aurage), uses exactly the same barrels - 'Radoux blend' - that are used at Tertre and Roc de Cambes for the Paradella cuvées. In order to re-create the humid, damp cellar conditions of his home estate in St Emilion in the dry climate of Corsica, an ingenious system of spraying a fine mist over the barrels every half an hour was created in the Paradella chai. The first red vintage was released in 2018 (2016 vintage), followed by the first white (2019 vintage) in 2020. The Paradella style combines Mediterranean grape varieties with modern Bordeaux winemaking and use of oak to create boutique terroir-driven wines that refine the essence of Corsica.

"…this is a property to watch." - Jancis Robinson OBE, MW - 2018.
