It does what it says on the case - fifteen robust reds from Vernay, Maby, Lacugue, Bizuel Graillot & Pérez (all with compelling independent endorsements) that provide the perfect ballast for an autumnal cellar. You may need a hand carrying the delivery in!

This mixed case contains three bottles each of:

RED:
Lirac: Domaine Maby 'La Fermade' Rouge 2017
"The tank-aged 2017 Lirac la Fermade includes only 20% Grenache (it's normally 50% of the blend, but it was heavily impacted by coulure), with 45% Syrah and 35% Mourvèdre. Black olive and blueberry notes dominate this medium to full-bodied wine, which features a rich, velvety feel on the palate and a long, silky finish. 90/100."
Joe Czerwinski - The Wine Advocate.

Collines Rhodaniennes: Domaine Georges Vernay 'Fleurs de Mai' 2018
"Cracked pepper, deep plum and blackberry fruit and lashings of earth make this a serious treat. Only 500 cases are made, so this is a wine that you need to rush to secure stock of. With only eight months in oak, this is a fleshy, expressive red which, after a quick decant, is ready to go. Your jaw will drop when you taste this wine."
Matthew Jukes - MoneyWeek Wine Club.

Saint-Chinian: Château Milhau-Lacugue 'Cuvée Magali' 2013
"With a waft of garrigue herb and liquorice and a shake of the pepper pot seasoning the bright brambly fruit, this three-way Mediterranean blend (syrah, grenache and cinsault) is a vivid, great-value alternative to big Rhône names."
David Williams - Observer Food Monthly.

Côtes du Roussillon: Les Sorcières du Clos des Fées Rouge 2019
"The 2019 Les Sorcières du Clos des Fées is an old favourite of mine from the Côtes du Roussillon. A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, it's bursting with ripe, spicy red and black fruit enlivened by a keen acidity. It's a completely hedonistic wine for gratifying off-the-bat drinking made - as Jason puts it so inimitably - for buvabilité maximale."
Jonathan Ray - Spectator Wine Club.

Bierzo: Antoine Graillot & Raúl Pérez 'Encinas' 2016
"Sanguine, tarry and gamy notes give this firm red a slightly sauvage character, shadowing red plum, licorice and forest floor flavors. Shows character, with firm tannins and racy acidity. Decant. Drink now through 2024. 89/100."
Thomas Matthews - Wine Spectator.

This mixed case includes

3 x Lirac: Domaine Maby 'La Fermade' Rouge 2017£0.00

"The tank-aged 2017 Lirac la Fermade includes only 20% Grenache (it's normally 50% of the blend, but it was heavily impacted by coulure), with 45% Syrah and 35% Mourvèdre. 3 x Collines Rhodaniennes: Domaine Georges Vernay 'Fleurs de Mai' 2018£0.00

This IGP Collines Rhodaniennes 'Syrah' is the red equivalent of the Vernay's excellent value Viognier 'Pied de Samson'. Both are grown on the upper plateau above the slopes of Condrieu. This is archetypal Northern Rhône Syrah - pepper, crushed rocks and spice.

3 x Saint-Chinian: Château Milhau-Lacugue 'Cuvée Magali' 2013£0.00

If one were looking for a wine that exemplifies how the Languedoc offers terrific quality at modest prices this would silence any sceptics! Blended from Southern staples Syrah, Grenache Noir and Cinsault, this Saint-Chinian wine has a fresh, lip-smacking finish that guarantees you'll want to take another sip.

3 x Côtes du Roussillon: Les Sorcières du Clos des Fées Rouge 2019£0.00

Based near Vingrau at high altitude around the northern edge of Roussillon, former sommelier Hervé Bizeul has become one of the region's undoubted stars over the past two decades.

Acclaimed as 'one of the top 2-3 estates in the Roussillon' by Jeb Dunnuck (robertparker.com), his 'Sorcières red' - a blend of 50% racy young-vine Syrah, rounded out by 30% Grenache and 20% Carignan from plots between 40-80 years old - is a highly drinkable fruit-forward expression of this great terroir.
