Outside the worlds of wine and family I spend what time I can playing guitar in the village band, and as a good indicator of what season we're heading into we've been working our way through new Christmas songs for our next gig (The Bell on the Common, 17th December, Broughton Gifford since you ask!).
I do realise that Broughton Gifford isn’t the epicentre of every Oenophiles horizon or local sommeliers stamping ground (although there’s a fair few Yapp customers in the village it has to be said) so if you are making plans for Christmas it’s time we ran through what’s happening here at Yapp HQ on the 25th and 26th November.
The Yapp Christmas Tasting and Sale is always our busiest of the year, so while we’re sorting out which wines we'll open for tasting over the 2 days we’re also setting up stalls for our good friends from Godminster cheese (www.godminster.com) and The Chesil Smokery (www.chesilsmokery.com) who will be sharing samples and selling their top notch provisions – and added into the mix this year we are also welcoming a local company, Bumble and Boots (www.bumbleandboots.co.uk), whose Beef Jerky is hand made in small batches using locally sourced beef - designed as a snack product perfect with a tipple a great stocking filler too for Jerky lovers!
As ear worms go at this time of year, "Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall? It's the time that every Santa has a ball..." is a hard one to shift - so, if you can’t make the Christmas gig in Broughton Gifford, don’t miss the other fail safe bet this time of year!
