It's good to have a reliable house white - something light, fresh and unpretentious. We often serve Domaine Gardrat: Vin de Pays Charentais Sauvignon 2014 as an aperitif with Sicilian nocellara olives, Spanish corn kernels or habas fritas (fried & salted broad beans).

You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but how could you fail to fall for the exuberant 1930s label of Costières de Nîmes: Château Roubaud 2013? Luckily it's such a great full bodied fruity red that you won't be disappointed. Serve with something meaty - is it too early to contemplate a barbecue? Or a rich aubergine dish such as melanzane alla parmigiana.

Lastly if you're looking for something special to go with your Easter roast lamb try Alain Graillot's Crozes Hermitage 2012. It's a luscious peppery red which will go down a treat.
