A stylish, mid-weight white from the Southern Rhône cru of Lirac, a nervy Chardonnay from Burgundy and an aromatic Ve rmentino from near Aix-en-Provence provide our trio of whites.

Our reds begin with an acclaimed Syrah grown on volcanic basalt rock on the edge of the Coiron Mountains in the South-Eastern Ardèche, which Julia Harding MW napped as her 'Wine of the Week' on jancisrobinson.com. This is followed by a Gamay from the Cave de Saint-Désirat, that Matthew Jukes reviewed as 'light and fresh', "... this is a house red for all dishes." Finally, a vibrant wine from Bruno Ribière's ancient, 140 year-old pre-phylloxera plantings of Carignan in the foothills of the Pyrenees, ideal with Toulouse sausages or cassoulet.

As ever, this 'Sommelier Service' mixed case (see here for regular wine deliveries) is also available as all red or all white.

This mixed case contains two bottles each of:

Lirac: Domaine Maby 'La Fermade' Blanc 2019

This mixed case includes

2 x Lirac: Domaine Maby 'La Fermade' Blanc 2019£0.00

White Lirac is deserving of wider recognition, and the Domaine Maby bottling is a is a fine example - a blend of Grenache Blanc and Clairette that is given some welcome freshness by Piquepoul. A wine that drinks well on its own but is a shoo-in with seafood.

2 x Bourgogne Chardonnay: Closerie des Alisiers 2019£0.00

This wine is a classic, unoaked, crisp Chardonnay which is an ideal starting point for exploring our white Burgundy range. Made by savvy, young négociant, Stéphane Brocard, who was instrumental in helping us develop our Burgundy offering, it's a delicious, crisp and unoaked example to savour on its own or with a simple dish of fruits de mer.

2 x Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence: Domaine des Oullières Blanc 2019£0.00

A gorgeous white wine from Provence which has been particularly well received on these shores. Food and wine matching expert Fiona Beckett described it as "An intense, fragrant, Vermentino-based white to drink with seafood", and we heartily concur!

2 x Coteaux de l'Ardèche: 'Basalte du Coiron' Syrah 2018£0.00

A limited production cuvée, from pure Syrah grown on (volcanic) basalt rock on the edge of the Coiron Mountains in the South-Eastern Ardèche.

2 x Collines Rhodaniennes: Cave Saint-Désirat Gamay 2018£0.00

This Gamay Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes from the Cave de Saint-Désirat co-opérative drinks well lightly-chilled in the Summer and makes a fine accompaniment to all manner of picnics, barbecues and light lunches.

2 x IGP Côtes Catalanes: Domaine Ferrer-Ribière 'Empreinte du Temps' Carignan 2017£0.00

This vibrant, fresh Catalan Carignan hails from a precious parcel of 140+ year old pre-phylloxera vines. Here at Yapp HQ it's a firm favourite that delivers consistently in every vintage. Like the white Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Grenache Blanc from Domaine Ferrer-Ribière, this wine too is well-suited to simple, rustic cuisine - some sizzling Toulouse sausages or cassoulet would fit the bill nicely.
