Cairanne: Domaine Les Eschaffins Rouge 2016
"The 2016 Cairanne reveals an exotic bouquet of plums, blueberries, mint, bay leaf, and hints of sappy flowers. With a green edge in its aromatics, it stays beautifully fruit-driven on the palate, has medium body, good acidity, and moderate tannins, all making for a complex, charming Cairanne to drink over the coming 4-6 years.
Drink 2018-2024. 88/100."

The Pascal Frères team supervise the production of this rich, savoury Cairanne – upgraded in this vintage to full AOC status (following in the footsteps of Gigondas, Vacqueyras & Rasteau). Irrespective of the label, this is a tiger not a moggy!
Yves Cheron largely runs his négociant operation (vinifying wine or grapes from other vineholders) under the label ‘Pascal Frères’, although sometimes (as in this case) the finished wine retains its 'domaine' label.

Yves Cheron
Yves Cheron (aka Pascal Frères) is a Négociant-Vinificateur – a wine merchant and winemaker, who lives on an attractive estate below the Dentelles de Montmirail. He produces his own Gigondas & Vacqueyras (both named Grand Montmirail) from vineyards at the domaine, as well as vinifying wines from bought in grapes at his négociant enterprise, Pascal Frères, which is situated between the two villages.
