Père et fille Jean-Pierre and Emilie Boisson of Domaine de Père Caboche are renowned for producing fine, fruit-accentuated wines that make for gratifying early drinking. Rare white Châteauneuf-du-Pape represents less than 5% of the AOC production and this refreshingly oak-free example is one of the best around!
This Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc is blended from a base of 40% Clairette with 30% Bourboulenc and 15% each of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. It has appealing agrume aromas and a zesty palate of peach and apricot flavours with an elegant, dry finish.

| Vinification | The grapes are picked by hand at optimum ripeness and are immediately crushed prior to fermentation at 16 to 18 degrees C. The wine is aged on the lees with regular lees-stirring (bâtonnage) in neutral tanks (stainless steel and concrete). Malolactic fermentation is blocked in order to preserve the fruit, aromas and acidity. Bottling takes place rapidly in order to preserve the wine's freshness. |

Domaine du Père Caboche (Jean-Pierre & Emilie Boisson)
Jean-Pierre Boisson, former long-serving mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, runs Domaine du Père Caboche with his children Emily & Nicolas. Members of the Boisson family have been both winemakers and blacksmiths for generations. The family nickname of Caboche derives from the old Provençal word for 'horseshoe nails' and their Vieilles Vignes cuvée is named after Elisabeth Chambellan, a local blacksmith's daughter who married Jean-Louis Boisson in 1772.
