Our all-purpose Christmas selection begins with a methode traditionelle fizz from the Loire that blends Chenin Blanc with a dash of Chardonnay. The two still, dry whites are (interestingly) single varietal Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay from Vouvray and Chablis, respectively. Both are versatile enough to serve as an aperitif of partner more complex fish or poultry dishes. Another allrounder, the Yapp red (Cabernet Sauvignon), kicks off our reds and is joined by a ripe, light (lunchtime) Pinot Noir and a rich, spicy (supper) red from the Languedoc.

As ever, this 'Sommelier Service' mixed case (see here for regular wine deliveries) is also available as all red or all white.

This mixed case contains two bottles each of:

SPARKLING WHITE:
Saumur 'De Chanceny' Mousseux Brut

WHITE:
Chablis: Domaine Christophe Camu 2018
Vouvray: Jean-Claude & Didier Aubert Sec 2017

RED:
Yapp rouge: Vignerons Ardéchois 2017
Faugères: Château des Estanilles L'Impertinent Rouge 2016
"The 2016 Faugères Impertinent is another character-filled wine from this estate. Smoked earth, garrigue, pepper, and plenty of meatiness as well as ripe fruit all emerge from this medium to full-bodied effort that has a classic, balanced, enjoyable style. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. 89-91/100."

Bourgogne Pinot Noir: Closerie des Alisiers 2017

Christmas Corkers Deluxe

Upgrade my Corkers to a 15-bottle case.
Our popular seasonal twist is that, for an extra outlay and a larger saving, you can add three marvellous bottles (for when the guests have gone) from the Rhône, Beaujolais and Corsica to create a bumper 15-bottle case. You know you're worth it!

The Christmas Corkers Deluxe mixed case also includes one bottle each of:

RED:
Brézème: Domaine Lombard 'Le Grand Chêne' Rouge 2016
"Inky ruby. Vibrant, mineral-accented dark berry and floral pastille aromas pick up exotic spice and savory herb nuances with air. Juicy and incisive on the palate, offering fresh cherry, cassis and spicecake flavors given tension by an undercurrent of juicy acidity. Finishes smoky and quite long, displaying repeating minerality and slow-building tannins. 91/100."
Josh Raynolds - vinous.com

Fleurie: Domaine de Fa 2017
"Beautifully fragrant, with violet and black tea notes that echo through the tangy raspberry and steeped cherry flavors, marked by licorice and mineral elements. Offers a long, lightly tannic finish. 91/100."
Gillian Sciaretta - Wine Spectator.

Vin de Corse Porto Vecchio: Domaine de Torraccia Rouge 2015

This mixed case includes

2 x Saumur 'De Chanceny' Mousseux Brut£0.00

Classic, toasty, aromas precede a palate of ripe orchard fruit. The fresh, lively mousse gives way to a clean, crisp finish. Great value French fizz!

2 x Chablis: Domaine Christophe Camu 2018£0.00

Classy, unoaked Chablis from a talented, sixth generation winemaker. It is light and supple enough to savor without accompaniment but will take all manner of crustacea and seafood in its stride.

2 x Vouvray: Jean-Claude & Didier Aubert Sec 2017£0.00

Bien classique! This refreshing, apple-scented Chenin Blanc will make a great aperitif or partner to goats cheese and salads. Vouvray Sec is the perfect foil for the locally-made potted pork rillettes, and together they make a dangerous combination as both are extremely more-ish.

2 x Yapp Rouge 2017£0.00

Our 'house' red is made from pure Cabernet Sauvignon and, consequently, exhibits a mid-weight palate of cassis fruit over a background of ripe tannins. It is light enough to drink without food but makes a versatile partner to charcuterie, cheese, stews and grills, making it an ideal kitchen table red.

2 x Faugères: Château des Estanilles L'Impertinent Rouge 2016£0.00

A spicy, mid-weight red Faugères wine comprised of Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan. Food-wise, bavette frîtes, confit du canard or a fricassee of wild mushrooms would be ideal.

2 x Bourgogne Pinot Noir: Closerie des Alisiers 2017£0.00

A fine, well-crafted example of Burgundy Pinot Noir and a sibling for our Bourgogne Chardonnay, it has a palate of soft red fruits and will please red wine lovers as it drinks well with and without food. Served lightly-chilled it makes an ideal pairing for a simple collation of charcuterie, fresh bread and cornichons and perhaps some ripe Brie de Maux.
