A stupendous wine from the famous 50-hectare walled vineyard of Clos de Vougeot on the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. This Vin de Garde, which is produced from 70+ year-old vines, gives full expression to the Pinot Noir grape, with powerful, complex flavours of game and wild fruits.
Our good friends, the Chérons, whose excellent range of Southern Rhône reds we greatly admire, originally hail from Burgundy. Recently Yves Chéron assumed responsibility for four hectares of Côtes de Nuits vines that were bought in the 1930s by his grandfather Paul Misset and which, impressively, include two hectares of the fifty-hectare walled Grand Cru vineyard at Clos de Vougeot.
This deep, dark multi-faceted Clos de Vougeot wine merits decanting, and would make a fine accompaniment to the traditional Burgundian dish of 'boeuf bourguignon'.

Domaine Misset-Cheron
We had been aware for many years that our good friends the Chérons originally hailed from Burgundy, where they retain significant vine holdings. As a younger sibling, Yves Chéron had moved to Gigondas to ply his trade, producing a range of excellent Southern Rhône reds (several of which are bottled under the popular Pascal Frères label) that have become staples of our range. Yves and brother Philippe assumed responsibility for the 4 hectares of Côtes de Nuits vines that were bought in the 1930s by his grandfather Paul Misset and which, impressively, include 2 hectares of the 50 hectare walled Grand Cru vineyard of Clos de Vougeot.
