Collioure: Domaine La Tour Vieille 'La Pinède' 2018
A rugged, chest-thumping, life-affirming Grenache / Carignan blend imbued with a wealth of briary berry scents and flavours supported by rugged but ripe tannins. This Collioure wine drinks well from release, if decanted, and will age well for a decade.
A magnificent partner to local dishes rich in peppers, anchovies and garlic.
The principal La Tour Vieille bottling of red Collioure, in volume terms, is called 'La Pinède' - a wine that hails from a blend of 65% Grenache Noir, 30% Mourvèdre, and 5% Carignan. Like the white 'Les Canadells', the red 'La Pinède' is named after the individual plots of vines from which they emanate.
