Coteaux du Layon: Château la Tomaze 'Cuvée des Lys' 2022
The Lecointre flagship Coteaux du Layon wine is their prized 'Cuvée des Lys' that comes from select parcels of late-harvested, botrytised grapes. From pure Chenin Blanc, it has a complex, dried fruit bouquet and a powerful, persistent palate of raisins nuts and minerals. It will age almost indefinitely and is best enjoyed as a decadent post-prandial bonne bouche. Certified organic.
Cyrille and Kimberly Lecointre have recently taken on the mantle of running this family domaine with enthusiasm. A conversion to organic farming and a slight restructuring of their range of Coteaux du Layon wines were successful early initiatives.

Vincent Lecointre
Cyrille Lecointre is an eighth generation Angevin grower who recently took over Château La Tomaze from his highly-regarded father, Vincent, a former president of the Coteaux du Layon appellation. Joined by his American wife, Kimberly (who also teaches business English part-time), Cyrille has set about re-energising the estate with a conversion to organic (effective from 2017), streamlining of the cuvées and smart new labels. The domaine, situated in Le Champ-sur-Layon, makes a carefully crafted Cabernet d'Anjou rosé alongside elegant Coteaux du Layon sweet wines.
