Crozes' Feat Mixed Case Offer
£265.00
Save £19.45

With over 1,700 hectares under vine Crozes-Hermitage is the largest and, some might argue, best value appellation in the Northern Rhône. Production here is focused principally on the Syrah grape that yields peppery, darkly-fruited red wines which are surprisingly approachable in youth, but can cellar for a decade. Marsanne and Roussanne are also cultivated to make smooth, sensuous dry white wines redolent of peaches and apricots

This case provides a fine opportunity to compare and contrast wines from world-class producers in the recent terrific vintage run 2016-2018.

This mixed case contains one bottle each of:

WHITE:
Crozes-Hermitage: Domaine des Lises 2018
Max Graillot and Thomas Schmittel make this delicious Marsanne - Roussanne blend from a small parcel (0.7 hectare) of low-yielding (15hl/ha) vines planted on a steep slope, ergo only 1,000 bottles are produced annually.

RED:
Crozes Hermitage: Domaine des Lises 2017
Crozes Hermitage Rouge: Alain Graillot 2017
"fresh and focused style, with violet, white pepper, cassis and pastis notes streaming through, carried by a solid graphite edge through the finish. Drink now through 2027. 91/100." - James Moleworth, Wine Spectator.

Crozes Hermitage: Alain Graillot 'La Guiraude' 2016
"Olive, roasted meat and cherry notes mingle easily on the nose and palate. This is medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, fine, elegant finish. It should drink well for over a decade. 93/100." - Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate.

This mixed case also contains two bottles each of:

WHITE:
Crozes Hermitage Blanc: Alain Graillot 2017
"This sensational white - made from 80% Marsanne, 20% Roussanne, and sealed with a screwcap (hoorah) is deceptively rich, with restrained, super-classy fruit and minutes long finish." - Matthew Jukes, MoneyWeek.

RED:
Crozes Hermitage: Domaine Equis 'Equinoxe' 2018
Crozes Hermitage: Pascal Frères 2017
Crozes-Hermitage 'Silène': J-L Chave Sélection 2018

(Please note that the white Crozes-Hermitage: Domaine des Lises 2018 is only available in this offer case - it is not available for purchase individually).

This mixed case includes

1 x Crozes Hermitage: Domaine des Lises 2017£0.00

Crozes Hermitage: Domaine des Lises - a juicy, youthful Syrah with classic blackberry and pepper aromas and a palate of ripe plums and damsons over supple tannins.

1 x Crozes Hermitage Rouge: Alain Graillot 2017£0.00

This world-renowned red Crozes Hermitage is Alain Graillot's principal wine in terms of production, and hails from mature Syrah rootstock on the 'Les Chassis' plateau. It has an intense black fruit bouquet and plump palate of dark, hedgerow berries, a good palate-cleansing acidity and fine-grained tannins.

1 x Crozes Hermitage Rouge: Alain Graillot 'La Guiraude' 2016£0.00

"Showing greater intensity and complexity than the regular bottling, the 2016 Crozes Hermitage la Guiraude also is made entirely whole cluster, yet it shows less prominent stemmy notes. Olive, roasted meat and cherry notes mingle easily on the nose and palate. This is medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, fine, elegant finish. It should drink well for over a decade. 93/100."
Joe Czerwinski - robertparker.com

2 x Crozes Hermitage Blanc: Alain Graillot 2017£0.00

An elegant blend of Marsanne and Roussanne from one of the Rhône's leading winemakers. Not for nothing is this Crozes Hermitage Blanc the favourite Rhône white of many a wine journalist!

2 x Crozes Hermitage: Domaine Equis 'Equinoxe' 2018£0.00

The Graillot family is famous for producing fruit-forward accessible red wines made from the Syrah grape. The Crozes Hermitage 'Equinoxe' is an excellent, youthful example, crammed with dark, hedgerow-fruit scents and flavours offset by supple tannins. This wine makes an ideal partner to red meat dishes or flavoursome, hard cheeses.
Bottled under screwcap.

2 x Crozes Hermitage: Pascal Frères 2017£0.00

A traditional, mid-weight Crozes Hermitage wine from the ever-popular Pascal Frères. With classic Syrah farmyard and saddle leather aromas preceding a palate of dark, brambly fruit offset by firm, well-integrated tannins, this can't fail to please when matched with a good steak or a confit of duck.

2 x Crozes-Hermitage: Jean-Louis Chave Sélection 'Silène' 2018£0.00

‘Silène’ is the Chave family’s ‘J-L Chave Sélection’ négociant bottling of red Crozes-Hermitage - this wine has an aromatic quality that lifts the intense bramble fruit core to another level. Notes of tapenade and spice are set against fresh acidity and fondant tannins, giving lovely length.
