Debutantes

Save £7.00

Considering that we spent much of it 'locked down', the last year wasn't a bad one for unearthing discoveries for your (and our) delectation. This case comprises wines from diverse locations that are new to our list this year. We are sure you will appreciate them as much as we do.

This mixed case contains two bottles each of:

WHITE:
IGP Méditerranée: Domaine Saint Gayan 'Argiles' Blanc 2019
A zesty blend of Piquepoul, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc for uplifting summer drinking.

Alsace: Léon Beyer 'La Cuvée' 2019
Maison Léon Beyer's versatile 'house' white is an exciting Alsace amalgamation of Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Muscat.

ROSÉ:
Napier Winery: 'Petite Marie' Rosé 2020
A coral pink Cabernet Franc from the Cape redolent of red summer berries.

RED:
Chinon: Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault 'Le Puy' Rouge 2019
A select single vineyard Chinon from the volcanic soils of the Puy du Chinonais.

IGP Pays d'Oc: Domaine Girard Pinot Noir 2020
A supple, red-fruited Pinot Noir from a cutting-edge winery in Malepère.

Tinto Negro: Mendoza Malbec 2019
Argentinian Malbec grown at high altitude – ripe hedgerow berry flavours are offset by spicy undertones and delicate tannins.

This mixed case includes

2 x IGP Méditerranée: Domaine Saint Gayan 'Argiles' Blanc 2019£0.00

This hand-harvested, IGP Méditerranée blanc is a terrific thirst-quencher for al fresco imbibing, picnics or a trip to the seaside at the height of summer!

2 x Alsace: Léon Beyer 'La Cuvée' 2019£0.00

Léon Beyer’s ‘La Cuvée’ is an Alsace blend of Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Muscat. Such blends are often described as 'Edelzwicker' (German for 'noble mixture'), and allow winemakers to express their house style and can often be terrific value.

2 x Napier Winery: 'Petite Marie' Rosé 2020£0.00

Delicate salmon-pink rosé wine from the vineyards of Wellington in the Western Cape of South Africa. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, it has a floral nose with pink grapefruit, guava and rosehip notes that follow through onto the plate. Creamy and with a hint of Szechuan pepper spice, this is very moreish and ideal for alfresco imbibing!

2 x Chinon: Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault 'Le Puy' Rouge 2019£0.00

Any one thinking red Chinon (Cabernet Franc) is just for slaking one’s thirst after punting a canot down the Loire, should try this impressive, organic single vineyard example from Rodolphe Raffault. When we first tasted it, it immediately reminded us of good, Right-Bank Bordeaux.

2 x IGP Pays d'Oc: Domaine Girard Pinot Noir 2020£0.00

Domaine Girard’s Burgundian-style Pinot Noir from the Languedoc hills owes its freshness to planting at 350m altitude, receiving cooling breezes from both the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Bags of intense berry fruit and gentle spice make this an ideal aperitif or moreish partner to summer dishes.

2 x Tinto Negro: Mendoza Malbec 2019£0.00

"A Mendoza Malbec offering a fruity perfume, well-integrated wood aromas and gentle spices. Relaxed and easygoing, it is dry with mild tannins, a heady flavor and a youthful profile. Drink 2020 - 2023. 88/100."
