As the temperature drops and daylight is at a premium, nothing beats a bracing walk prior to retreating indoors to recuperate. These reds from diverse destinations, including Spain and Argentina, are all ideal for drinking on chilly evenings and will stand up well to bold stews and roasts. With a wealth of dark berry fruit and supple tannins, they will provide warmth and comfort in equal measure.

This mixed case contains two bottles each of:

Yapp Rouge 2019
Vin de Pays de Vaucluse: Le Petit Caboche 2020
Faugères: Château Estanilles 'Vallongue' Rouge 2019
IGP Côtes Catalanes: Domaine Ferrer-Ribière 'Empreinte du Temps' Carignan 2019
Rioja: Marqués de Zearra Crianza 2015
Tinto Negro: Uco Valley Malbec Cabernet Franc 'Limestone Block' 2018

This mixed case includes

2 x Yapp Rouge 2019£0.00

Our 'house' red wine is made from pure Cabernet Sauvignon and, consequently, exhibits a mid-weight palate of cassis fruit over a background of ripe tannins. It is light enough to drink without food but makes a versatile partner to charcuterie, cheese, stews and grills, making it an ideal kitchen table red.

2 x Vin de Pays de Vaucluse: Le Petit Caboche 2020£0.00

This lip-smacking, supple blend from Vaucluse has dollops of red fruit and warm, spicy flavours. A wine made by Jean-Pierre Boisson (former Mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and his daughter Emilie.

2 x Faugères: Château Estanilles 'Vallongue' Rouge 2019£0.00

A spicy, mid-weight organic red Faugères wine comprised in this vintage of 45% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 15% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre. Food-wise, bavette frîtes, confit du canard or a fricassee of wild mushrooms would be ideal.

2 x IGP Côtes Catalanes: Domaine Ferrer-Ribière 'Empreinte du Temps' Carignan 2019£0.00

This vibrant, fresh Catalan Carignan hails from a precious parcel of 140+ year old pre-phylloxera vines. Here at Yapp HQ it's a firm favourite that delivers consistently in every vintage. Like the white Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Grenache Blanc from Domaine Ferrer-Ribière, this wine too is well-suited to simple, rustic cuisine - some sizzling Toulouse sausages or cassoulet would fit the bill nicely.

Certified as an organic wine.

2 x Rioja: Marqués de Zearra Crianza 2015£0.00

We know it's across the Pyrenees from our usual patch, but we couldn't resist buying this crackerjack red Rioja that practically drinks itself. Tempranillo - with 10% Mazuelo (Carignan) - from a small bodega in Fuenmajor, it has 24 months in barrel and 3 years in bottle prior to release, illustrating the great value to be found in La Rioja.

2 x Tinto Negro: Uco Valley Malbec Cabernet Franc 'Limestone Block' 2018£0.00

Close to an eastern outcrop of the Andes and at over 4,000 feet in elevation, the soils and microclimate of Los Chacayes produces Malbecs with delicate floral and blueberry aromas. Co-fermented with 10-12% Cabernet Franc to add complexity.
