Gevrey-Chambertin: Domaine Henri Richard 'Aux Corvées' 2015
Travelling south from Dijon, the 400 hectares of Gevrey Chambertin mark the start of the great vineyards of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. This is a wonderful, traditional Pinot Noir from a fourth generation, family-run, organic estate and comes from the Aux Corvées climat, just behind the family home. We've enjoyed it immensely on its youthful fruit but it should show even better with bottle-age.
Translucent, ruby robe. Lovely pure red berry bouquet with subtle tarry notes. It has a core of ripe strawberry fruit on the palate a voluptuous, velvety texture & supple tannins offset by a fine acidity. A very harmonious Gevrey - already delicious but should develop well over the next 5 years.

|Vinification||Hand-harvested, organic grapes are vinified in 40HL concrete vats and then aged in 228-litre Burgundy barrels for 14 months prior to bottling. The wine is racked, but not fined or filtered.|

Domaine Henri Richard
A traditional, family-run, organic estate. Domaine founder, Jean Richard, was a cooper, and father of Henri Richard. The former bought the 1st parcel of Mazoyères-Chambertin in 1938 from the Burgundian writer Gaston Roupnel. Henri Richard received his Oenology diploma in 1939, and took care of the Domaine until 1977, succeeded by son-in-law Jean Bastien, then daughter Margaret in 1990. The continuity of Domaine Henri Richard is now assured by the fourth generation, Richard and Sarah Bastien, children of Margaret and Jean. Wine runs in their blood: Richard is an oenologist and a consultant since 2004 and Sarah recently joined the domain with a Masters degree in Wine Knowledge and International Trade, in 2011.
