Stellenbosch: Migliarina Chenin Blanc 2020
"Made by former sommelier Carsten Migliarina from low-yielding old vines, it's barrel-fermented and, although dry, is full of rich, toasty, creamy baked apples and peaches complete with whispers of honeyed vanilla. It's a wonderful wine, of which only 270 cases were made."

An elegant, attractive Brézème Blanc that reveals aromas and flavours of white stone fruit with a flinty citrus finish. This white Brézème wine benefits from decanting and should not be served too chilled. Ideal as an aperitif or with seafood, fish or poultry. Certified organic.

Pascal Labasse's nervy, young Jurançon Sec 'Énergique' from his beloved Domaine Bellegarde, in the shadow of the Pyrenees at Monien. 100% Gros Manseng planted on clay-limestone south/south-western facing slopes.

2 x Stellenbosch: Migliarina Chenin Blanc 2020£0.00

A rich barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc made in small quantities by boutique winemaker Carsten Migliarina. Crisp acidity balances baked Bramley apple, shortbread biscuit and hints of vanilla and confit pineapple. Subtle honey notes on the finish will become more complex and intense with bottle age. Delicious with creamy poultry dishes, soft cheese or spring vegetable risotto.

This lip-smacking, supple blend from Vaucluse has dollops of red fruit and warm, spicy flavours. A wine made by Jean-Pierre Boisson (former Mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and his daughter Emilie.

2 x Lirac: Domaine Maby 'La Fermade' Rouge 2019£0.00

The red Lirac 'La Fermade' from Domaine Maby is an under-rated Châteauneuf'-style blend that is the quintessential fireside red wine. Made from Rhône staples Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, this warming red is packed with briary garrigue berry scents and flavours with a touch of violets, earthy undertones and rugged tannins. It too is a dependable crowd-pleaser offering more depth and complexity than most Côtes-du-Rhône without the price tag of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

2 x Crozes Hermitage: Domaine Equis 'Equinoxe' 2020£0.00

The Graillot family is famous for producing fruit-forward accessible red wines made from the Syrah grape. The Crozes Hermitage 'Equinoxe' is an excellent, youthful example, crammed with dark, hedgerow-fruit scents and flavours offset by supple tannins. This wine makes an ideal partner to red meat dishes or flavoursome, hard cheeses. Bottled under screwcap.
