Jura Arbois: Savagnin Domaine Jean-Louis Tissot 2016
The Savagnin grape typifies the Jura and produces the region's famous Vin Jaune. However, a significant proportion is released without Vin Jaune's six years mandatory ageing, either as a 'traditional' (slightly oxidative style) like this one, or as a 'floral' conventional white wine. We love the former.
|Style||White Wine, Sec, Medium-bodied, Non Sparkling|
|Grape Variety (Cépage)||Savagnin|
|Food & Wine Matching||Cheese, White Fish|
|Vinification||Savagnin from 4 hectres of wines, all of which is initially vinified with the potential of becoming Vin Jaune. Thus, the wine is raised in a traditional, oxidative style prior to an earlier release.|

Domaine Jean-Louis Tissot
Founded in 1969 after the marriage of Jean-Louis and Françoise Tissot, both from winemaking families, this 16 hectare estate is now ably run on lutte raisonnée principles by their children Valerie and Jean-Christophe. The domaine is situated in the picturesque hill village of Montigny-les-Arsures in the heart of AOC Arbois and they produce the full gamut of Jura wines and spirits.
