Jurançon Moelleux: Domaine Bellegarde 2016
Pascal Labasse is justifiably renowned for the superb sweet wines he produces. His 'Hitorique' Jurançon Moelleux is made from 80% Petit Manseng and 20% Gros Manseng that are harvested at optimum ripeness. Vivacious crisp and ripe citrus aromas lead to rich tropical fruit flavours underlined by a touch of sweet spice with refreshing acidity. Drink lightly chilled.

Domaine Bellegarde (Pascal Labasse)
The historic Béarnais appellation of Jurançon lies to the south and west of the city of Pau and is for white wines only based on Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Courbu. Domaine Bellegarde, with 16 hectares under vine, can be found 20 kilometres west of Pau outside the village of Monein and has been in the hands of Pascal Labasse since 1986. The domaine was first acquired by the Labasse family following the return of Pascal’s grandfather from New Orleans in 1914. The family had originally emigrated due to the phylloxera epidemic, which destroyed most of the vines in France (although a few of the vines at higher altitude are pre-phylloxera). Pascal is passionate about his wine and is part of the ‘new wave’ of young generation growers. He crafts a tangy, dry white wine and fine sweet wines that drink well from bottling but that can age well over many years.View more wines from this producer...
